Arctic CHAMP is a funded activity of NSF/ARCSS. The first set of projects, funded under the title 'Arctic Freshwater Cycle: Land/Upper-Ocean Linkages' (or referred to as the 'Freshwater Integration study (FWI)'), links CHAMP, ASOF, and SEARCH.
The primary goal of SEARCH is to coordinate cross-agency and affilate organization activities on broad issues of Arctic system change. The figure below graphically represents the SEARCH Confederation and specific contributions to SEARCH by various Confederation 'States' (e.g. NSF-ARCSS, NOAA, NASA, DOD, USDA, etc.).
The Freshwater Integration study (FWI), which focuses on the Arctic hydrological cycle, is one such contribution. CHAMP is coordinating this effort, and the projects are sponsored by the NSF Office of Polar Programs.
