What are the Objectives?

Produce budgets for comparison and evaluation
Produce budgets that take advantage of multiple FWI research projects
Identify gaps

What is the Spatial Domain?

Arctic Ocean or Pan-Arctic
Problem areas:
  - Arctic / North Atlantic Boundary, Greenland-Europe
  - Hudson's Bay
  - North Pacific (Yukon/Anadyr watersheds)
Hierarchy of domains
  - Sea Basins (ArcticRIMS)
  - Major watersheds + remaining drainage basins
  - Any other sub-domains for various problems and applications

Need input from the oceanographers - where to put the boundaries?
Domains need to be posted on the Arctic-CHAMP web site - who?

Temporal
What is the longest time period?
Answer will depend on the length of the longest common records.

A.Assemble the relevant data sets for inspection?
B.Careful with gain/loss of important individual stations over time.
C.Graphics that display the # of river, rawinsonde, surface, etc. stations over time.
Problem: Limiting on the basis of common intervals of data for different budget terms may eliminate a large fraction of existing data
D.Climatology first, individual years later.

What is the minimum time interval for resolution?
1 month

Encourage Data Redundancy
Welcome all of these into grand data archive
- compare them, explore their implications

e.g. several groups producing ET fields

We have defined a framework for:

presenting data
presenting model outputs
making comparisons between models and data
ArcticRIMS demo

Goal for next year:

ERA-40 data
UNH river discharge
UW ice/ocean/assimilation data

all up and into this framework by next year.
